President

Randy Leapley, Incombent, Member since April 2023

As we taxi into another exciting season of RC flying, I’d like to take a moment to share my intent to run for re-election as president of our club. It’s been an honor to serve alongside such a talented and passionate group of aviators, builders, and enthusiasts—and I’m eager to continue the journey we’ve started together.

Over the past term, we’ve made some solid progress. We updated our club by-laws to reflect the needs of today’s members while preserving the spirit of our founding principles. We revived the club newsletter—our own “Flypaper”—to keep everyone informed, entertained, and connected. And we’ve worked hard to improve communication between the executive board and the general membership, ensuring that every pilot has a voice in our flight plan.

I’ve also been working diligently to secure new sources of revenue for the club. My goal is to keep our dues stable while expanding what we offer. Whether it’s through grant applications, sponsorships, or creative fundraising, I’m committed to keeping our club financially healthy without asking members to dig deeper into their wallets. At the same time, I’ve been actively scouting for a new nearby flying site—one that offers convenience, safety, and long-term potential. It’s a challenging mission, but I believe we’re on final approach to a promising solution.

Before moving to this area, I served for many years as president of a thriving RC club near Florida’s west coast. I also have the privilege of serving as an Associate Vice President for AMA District 5, where I work to support clubs across the region and promote safe, inclusive flying. These experiences have helped shape my approach to leadership: collaborative, transparent, and always focused on helping our club climb to new altitudes.

Looking ahead, I’d like to build on our momentum with a few key goals:

  • Continue improving our field and facilities to make flying more enjoyable and accessible.

  • Expand our newsletter with member spotlights, build tips, and event coverage.

  • Host more fly-ins, workshops, and themed events to keep our calendar lively.

  • Strengthen our outreach to new members, families, and local partners.

I believe our club is more than just a place to fly—it’s a hangar full of friendships, shared knowledge, and the joy of watching something we built take to the skies. With your support, I’d be honored to keep serving as your president and help guide our squadron into the next chapter.

Thank you for your time, your trust, and your discipline. Let’s keep our club flying strong.

Vice-President

Edwin Boggess, Member since October 2021

I have flown RC Planes for approximately 47 years. I am currently involved in field maintenance, flight instruction and concessions during events. I am active in the club and try to keep the club in good shape for all flyers. I take pride in all that RCACF does and try to be involved in all aspects of the club. My goal to be on the Board as Vice President is to be open, honest, transparent and treat all members equally.  I am passionate about getting tasks actually accomplished once they are discussed by the Board and/or membership.  For that, I ask for your vote.

Secretary

Tim Bucher, Incumbent, Member since September 2012

I am a retired aerospace engineer and have been building model airplanes for over 60 years. I am the current club Secretary and newsletter editor. My past service included serving as the Chief Flight Instructor. I will continue to serve the club if re-elected as Secretary to the best of my ability.

Treasurer

Doug Joest, Incombent, Member since January 2019

Prior to my retirement I served as the CFO for several organizations, including a commercial service airport.  I have served as RCACF's treasurer since September 2022.   During my time as RCACF's treasurer I have setup the club’s accounting records in a computerized system on the “cloud”.   I also established our tax-exempt status with IRS and filed the required tax returns.  Finally, I have had the pleasure of working with the current membership chair and others in establishing our online payment system and the ability to accept credit cards at club events.

Membership Chairman

David Conley, Incombent,  Member since February 2022

One of my goals after retirement was to learn to fly RC airplanes.  When I moved to Florida I began to look for a club where I could make this happen.  Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was doing.  I hadn't built any kind of model for many years, and never flown RC.  I was so happy to find RCACF (from a search on the internet), become a member, and then to have others selfishly give of their time (and patience!) to teach me to fly.  I wish to continue to work as your Membership Chairman to help give back to the club and its members so that we can continue to enjoy this hobby together and make it available to other enthusiasts, whether they can fly or not!  Thank you for your vote.
